As of September 3, 2013, Firmware v1.20 was made available for DS-3500 and DS-7000 digital voice recorder users. This Firmware provides 1 New Feature and 1 Bug Fix. At this time, I haven’t been cleared to discuss the new feature but I can tell you not to hold your breath. We perform extensive testing on all new features and enhancements. As a distributor for multiple manufacturers, you can always count on us to provide unbiased evaluations and reviews. Unfortunately, this secret new feature did not even come close to meeting our expectations and to be honest has a long way to go before it’s actually ready for prime time. With that said, you’ll have to wait until the Olympus Official Press Release, expected in early October for more information.
As described above, Firmware Version 1.20 includes a helpful bug fix, where it addressed a bug reported where the recorder wasn’t properly responding when the slide switch was in the Record position, Reports confirmed that if the slide switch was quickly slid between Record and Review after a few times, it wouldn’t response correctly.
Through internal testing, we were able to verify the bug and verify that Firmware v1.20 resolved the issue. Available now for download on the eDist FTP and Olympus Pro Portal, we recommend that all Olympus DS-3500 and DS-7000 users update their devices.
