Olympus recently released a patch for existing Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS) Release 6 users.  Now available for immediate download, ODMS R6.2.1 includes two primary enhancements and three bug fixes.

Windows Server 2012 Support: ODMS R6.2.1 addressed a known issues reported in the field by users working with Windows Server 2012 in a Terminal Service environment.  Olympus confirmed that a small number of Windows 7 and Windows 8 users also reported similar issues.

According to the ODMS R6.2.1 Release Notes, a bug was causing connection issues when using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) v8.  The issue was a result of a confliction with Microsoft’s Security Policies on Virtual Channels.  Release 6.2.1 prevents the modules from opening more than one channel, which should resolve the connection issue.

Third Party Software Notices: ODMS R6.2.1 now complies with the Rules and Regulations that make it mandatory to provide users with information regarding trademarks and third party software.  This information is now made available through the Help menu, select Help > Legal Notices.  There, you will find information regarding Trademarks and Third Party Software.  I’m not sure who needs this information but it’s now available for your viewing pleasure.

In addition to the two feature enhancements listed above, ODMS Release 6.2.1 addressed 3 bug fixes, below is a brief synopsis of the resolved issue and description as described on page 11 of the ODMS R6.2.1 Release Notes.

1. ODMS Fails to Download Intermittently – Fixed this issue which always saved as “no” in the encryption settings of the DS-3400

2. Device encryption folder switches back to default, set via Software Configuration Program (SCP) only – Fixed this issue which always saved as “no” in the encryption settings of DS-3400.

3. When sending multiple emails, the first one will not send – Fixed this issue which cannot send/receive email when File Site add-on program has been installed.

I’d recommend that all current ODMS R6 users download and apply this important update.  The update can be found on the eDist FTP Site as well as the Olympus Pro Portal.  Additional details can be found in the ODMS R6.2.1 RC Version Release Notes, available as part of the download.

We’d like to thank our friends at Olympus for their continued support.
