No. Dictate does not comply with HIPAA. If there is a crash in Dictate, a report is generated with text from a portion of the document being worked on and an e-mail is generated to be sent to [email protected] (engineering). The user does not have to send this report, so it would be the user sending the information to us, but most user’s do not realize that some information is in the report. Granted, the information that we receive from the report is confidential between the user and MacSpeech, we cannot claim that it complies with HIPAA at that point since the user has sent us the text. We are, however, always looking to improve the product for users in any way we can.
