Exporting My Corrected Document With a New Name

If you’re working with release 6 of the Olympus® Dictation Management System (ODMS) on a Windows computer, you have the ability to integrate Dragon Professional/Legal speech recognition. When a dictation is run through that process, a document is created and attached to the dictation. Once you make corrections to that document, and you have the appropriate setting checked, you can export your document to a new location, as well as change the format. This creates a copy, and the original stays attached to the document.

To enable this feature, go to Tools > Options > Workflow > Text Correction and check the box next to “Prompt for confirmation when text correcting is finished.”

How to Change the Name of the Document

What you cannot do is change the name of the document during the export process. The name of the document will be the same as the name of the dictation. You can, however, change the name of the file after it is exported.

  1. First, navigate to the location where you exported the document. By default, files are exported to the folders below.Dictation Module: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\ODMS\DictationModule\MyDocument

    Transcription Module: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\ODMS\TranscriptionModule\MyDocument

  2. Then, right-click on the file and choose “Rename.”

Please note that changing the name of a non-exported document will break the association between your dictation and the original speech recognition document. This means that you won’t be able to open the document through either the Dictation or Transcription Modules of ODMS R6.
