Synopsis: When I try to open my Olympus DSS Player Pro Release 5 software, I receive the following error: “The application will be terminated because the user profile is corrupt”.

Question: How to I correct this issue?

Answer: We’ve seen this issue a few times, a majority of the time, the solution below has resolved the issue.

Suggested Resolution:

1.  Please make sure that you have the latest patch of DSS Player Pro Release 5.  eDist Dealers can access the patch (Release 5.0.13) from our FTP account in the Olympus > Software Updates section.

2.  Will need to delete the [Preference.XML] file from your computer.  The preference.xml contains your user profile, which has somehow become corrupted.

To do so, you’ll need to find this file.

Windows XP: Go to > C:/Documents and Settings/<username>/Local Settings/Application Data/Olympus/DSSPlayerProR5

Windows Vista & Windows 7: Go to > C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/Olympus/DSSPlayerProR5

NOTE: Please note that this solution will delete your current settings.

Inside this folder, you will find a few files, including user files, preference files and backup files.  Delete ALL of the contents in this folder.  This will delete the corrupted user profile.  Once deleted, open the Olympus DSS Player Pro Release 5 software, it should open and automatically create new preference files.
