If you have a Dictaphone PowerMic II with Barscanner, you can scan directly into applications.
To use the scanner, point it at a barcode and press the scanner button (the little shiny button above the speaker). Dragon will then type the corresponding numbers into whatever window has the keyboard focus.
NOTE: Dragon Medical has to be running for this to happen.
