The Olympus Mobile Dictation Trial
So, you’re looking for a trial license of the Olympus Dictation app. You already know that it is a business-class solution for your smartphone, used to record dictations and email them. Excellent.
While the app is free to download, in order to send dictations in a useable format, you’ll eventually want to pick up what’s known as a “standard” license for the Olympus Dictation Portal (ODP). This will provide you with a year of access to send via the Olympus server (and record files in DSS or DS2 audio formats).
In the meantime, you can ask for a trial license of the Olympus Dictation Delivery Service, which will let you take the app for a spin for 30 days.
What Do I Need?
- An Olympus dealer who can issue you a trial license
- The Olympus Dictation app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play
- This ODP reference article, open in another browser tab
If you don’t have an Olympus reseller yet, we can help you with that. Contact us here.
How Do I Set It Up?
We’re going to add the instructions for both the reseller and the customer here, so that you can see exactly how this works. Look for the labels to distinguish who is responsible for completing each step.
Add the new customer in the Olympus Dictation Portal by clicking [Add Customer].
You will require both their name and email. Use the name of the business for the customer name, if applicable.
You will receive an “Account creation notification” email from the Olympus Dictation Delivery Service.
Please click the link and follow the instructions. You need to do this within seven days, or else the dealer has to add you to the portal again (as he did above).
For more information on this part, please read “Creating An Account” and “Changing the Smartphone Password” from the ODP reference article.
Once you’ve completed these steps, contact your Olympus reseller and let them know that your account has been created.
Find the new customer in the Olympus Dictation Portal and check the box next to their name.
Click the issue license button.
Set the license type to “Trial” and issue the license.
You will receive an email from the Olympus Dictation Delivery Service, subject line “Trial license issue notification.”
You should now complete the “Configuring Your Account” and “Connecting The Smartphone” sections from the ODP reference article.
If you are successful, once you’ve configured your smartphone (according to the instructions):
You will see this message:
